Jan. 18, the Aurora Fiddle society held a family dance in the basement of Yellowknife's Holy Trinity Anglican Church. The society holds family dances a few times a year but always hosts a handful of workshops.
SA国际影视传媒淭hese dances are important opportunities to give people a chance to see what fiddle music is all about and invite them to our workshops,SA国际影视传媒 said Christine Wenman, board member on the Aurora Fiddle Society.
SA国际影视传媒淚t's good chance to get the family out of the house and show them some traditional fiddle songs and dances,SA国际影视传媒 she said.
The dance featured a variety of different styles of fiddle song and dance from red river jigs to Russian Sasha dance to line and square dances. For newcomers these dances were instructed by board member Ryan McCord.
The Aurora Fiddle Society still has some spots available for youth group classes who meet every Friday, taught by Andrea Bettger. Spaces are limited.
