Yellowknife's hot spot for hot pot is stoking its return.

YK Hotpot will move into the space previously occupied by the Twist bar, beside Taste of Saigon on 50th St, said owner Sophia Jia.

The restaurant, which opened in December 2016, closed its original location beside the Kilt and Castle Pub in March as the Covid-19 pandemic decimated the business.

Jia couldn't specify when the eatery will open in its new location but hopes it can happen this year.

YK Hotpot was among the first businesses in Yellowknife to experience fallout from Covid in January when there were only a few cases of the virus in Canada. At that time, the virus was rapidly spreading in China, drastically reducing the number of Chinese travelling abroad. Those travellers make up a significant portion of Hotpot's clientele.
