The third full week of January is designated as National Non-Smoking Week in Canada. 

The week was established in 1977 and has become an annual event to provide education on the dangers of smoking and to encourage smokers to quit. 

Weedless Wednesday, on Jan. 22 this year, is part of National Non-Smoking Week. 

Canada has some strict laws on displaying cigarettes and tobacco products, as well as on selling and promoting tobacco products.
