The National Arts Centre (NAC) publicly mourned the death of Gord Downie, lead singer for the iconic Tragically Hip last week.
The NAC partnered with Downie one year ago on Oct. 18, when he performed the world premiere of his Secret Path project in Southam Hall.
The powerful multimedia performance was about the true story of Chanie Wenjack, a young boy who died of exposure as he fled from a residential school near Kenora, Ont.
At the 2016 performance, Downie spoke about his hope for better lives for Indigenous people over the next 150 years. His example inspired Canadians to do better on our path to reconciliation.
