A 65-year-old Tsiigehtchic man was arrested and has been charged after an incident in the community on Thursday forced a lockdown.
According to police, a tip was received by Fort McPherson , the detachment that serves Tsiigehtchic, just before 4 p.m. about someone threatening to get a gun and go around town shooting it. That forced the hamlet to issue the lockdown order.
Officers arrived in the community and found the suspect locked inside his residence. An investigation determined that the man wasn't armed and a warrant was obtained to enter the man's home in order to arrest him. He was taken into custody without incident and there were no injuries as a result.
spokesperson Const. Josh Seaward said the accused is facing one count of uttering threats as a result.
The man has been released on conditions and is scheduled to appear in court in Fort McPherson on April 8.
