Anyone who say the "Masks Required" message on a city bus this week still won't need one. As it turns out, it was an accident, according to the city.

Anyone who saw the "Masks Required" message on a city bus this week still won't need one. As it turns out, it was an accident, according to the city.

"Masks are not required on Yellowknife Transit buses," Abby Schelew, a communications advisor with the city in an email to Yellowknifer. "The destination sign on the bus in question was accidentally set to the 'Masks Required' messaging. The City of Yellowknife has contacted the service provider to ensure this messaging is changed."

Yellowknife lifted their mask requirements in the spring of 2022. The city also lifted its proof of vaccination policy. And at the start of April in 2022, the GNWT ended its COVID-19 public health emergency mandate.
