Cocaine seizure on Road to Nowhere results in two arrests

Iqaluit seized approximately $3,700 in cash, powdered cocaine and crack cocaine during a search warrant raid carried out at a residence in the Road to Nowhere area of Iqaluit on Dec. 6.

Two people found in the residence at the time were arrested and taken into custody. They are identified as Ahmed Ghouili, 40, and Cheri Rheaume, 37.

Ghouili is charged with trafficking cocaine, possession of property obtained by crime and failing to comply with probation.

Rheaume is charged with possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking.

Both individuals have been released. Their next court appearance is scheduled for Jan. 23, 2025, in Iqaluit.

The drug seizure was conducted with the cooperation of Iqaluit Municipal Law Enforcement.
