Dana Fergusson defeats Fred Daniels in Fort Smith mayoral race

The town of Fort Smith will have itself a new mayor.

Dana Fergusson defeated incumbent Fred Daniels in Monday's municipal election. Fergusson received 441 votes, while Daniels received 301. She became the second newly-elected mayor in the NWT on Monday night following Les Wright, who beat out Sean Whelly to become the new mayor of Fort Simpson.

When it comes to town council, a total of 12 candidates ran for the eight seats up for grabs and here are the results. Those elected are in bold.
