Dressing up for a golfin' good cause

As golf tournaments go, the Adlair Ladies Tournament is always one which draws a good crowd. And as golf tournaments go, it always manages to raise a tidy sum of money for a very worthy local cause.

As golf tournaments go, the Adlair Ladies Tournament is always one which draws a good crowd. And as golf tournaments go, it always manages to raise a tidy sum of money for a very worthy local cause.

The 2024 edition of the tournament was held at the Yellowknife Golf Club on Saturday with approximately four dozen ladies playing the back nine of the course; it's traditionally just a nine-hole event. In keeping with the theme, every team of ladies came dressed up in costumes as part of the fun. There was also the caddy auction before play began with men offering up their services to the highest bidders.

It was a return for the tournament as the 2023 edition was cancelled due to the evacuation of the city, which meant two years worth of prizes had to be given out, according to Kylie Frederick, the club's director of golf operations.

All proceeds from this year's tournament will be donated to the Yellowknife Women's Society; the final total wasn't known as of press time.
