The Wildcat Cafe in Old Town was forced to close its doors on Thursday evening following a fire inside.
According to a statement from a city spokesperson, firefighters were called to the location on Wiley Drive at around 6 p.m. after smoke was detected. Once crews arrived, it was determined that the fire was located inside the wall of the mechanical room near the back of the restaurant area. Firefighters managed to bring the fire under control after opening up the wall.
The fire was contained to a small area of the building, the spokesperson added, which kept the flames from causing more damage. Naka Power called in to shut down power to the building once everything was under control.
A total of 16 firefighters were dispatched to the scene and no injuries were reported as a result. The Office of the Fire Marshal has secured the scene and will begin its investigation on Friday morning.
In a Facebook post, the cafe stated that it would provide an update on what will happen for the weekend as soon as it could.
