First-ever Aqsarniit Trade Show and Conference a hit

Panel discussions, workshops and networking all part of inaugural event in Ottawa

The inaugural Aqsarniit Trade Show and Conference happened in Ottawa earlier this month and it appears it was a huge success.

The Baffin Regional Chamber of Commerce hosted the conference at the Rogers Centre in the nation's capital from Feb. 17 to 20 with panel discussions, workshops and presentations all a part of it.

Tony Rose, executive director of the chamber, said it was a lot of work in a very short period of time to get it all together.

"In just over three months from the announcement, more than 1,000 delegates, exhibitors, artists and performers registered to take part," he said.

Some of the panel discussions included talks on Arctic security in a changing world, the Inuit-Crown partnership and accelerating ocean innovation in the Arctic, among others. There was also an arts show as well as plenty of booths for attendees to get more information.

Among those from the GN in attendance included Premier P.J. Akeeagok and Economic Development and Transportation Minister David Akeeagok.

In a statement to SA国际影视传媒, Premier Akeeagok stated that the conference provided an important space for timely discussions about the needs of the Canadian Arctic.

"I am thankful to the organizers for bringing us together at such a critical moment so that we can engage in strategic conversations about the future of our region and how to work together to minimize risks and maximize opportunities for our communities," he wrote. "I look forward in taking part in the gathering for many years to come."

Nunavut Senator Nancy Karetak-Lindell was also there and said it was nice to see so many different topics on display.

"

Nunavut Travel had a booth on-site at the conference and it appeared to be a good movel, according to Alex Stubbing, its president and CEO.

SA国际影视传媒淭hese networking opportunities foster connections that lead to business partnerships and industry growth for Nunavut," he said. "The trade show was a perfect venue to enhance organizations and businesses brands and promote themselves.SA国际影视传媒
