Alex Mackenzie's "Happy Camper Comedy Tour" is coming to Yellowknife March 21 and 22.

A stand-up comedian is on his way to Yellowknife as part of his Canada-wide tour to make people laugh.

Alex Mackenzie spoke with SA¹ú¼ÊÓ°ÊÓ´«Ã½ about his Happy Camper Comedy Tour, which is coming to the Northern Arts and Cultural Centre on March 21 and 22.

It's the biggest tour he's ever done, he said, adding that he's toured across the country beginning almost a year ago and Yellowknife is one of his last stops.

The Yellowknife stop is the only one that features multiple shows; all other stops have only had one show per date.

Mackenzie said he planned on only having one show in Yellowknife but because it was selling so well, he added another.

"I'm really appreciative of that (and) I'm very excited to meet everyone," said Mackenzie.

This won't be his first time in the territory either. Mackenzie said when he started doing stand-up, he performed in Hay River in 2019.

"I loved it, it was super fun. I really liked being up there," he said.

Mackenzie described his comedy as up-beat and positive.

"I'm kind of the happiness cheerleader," he explained. "I think there's enough people saying that the world is falling apart and I think there's never been a better time to be alive. So I'm pulling the rope the other way."

He likened coming to one of his shows to hitting the gym: someone might not want to go at first but after coming out, they feel great.

"I guarantee you'll leave my show feeling better than when you got there," Mackenzie said.

Mackenzie is recommending that audience members be at least 18 years of age or more and that's because he never knows what parents are comfortable with having their kids hear.

"But I've had people as young as 10 come to my show and not have a problem," he added.

Anyone interested in getting tickets can do so by visiting the NACC website or purchase them from the box office.
