Hay River have arrested a 39-year-old following a firearm investigation after someone posted a picture of a handgun on social media and alluded to drug trafficking at an apartment building in Hay River.

On Nov. 22, police officers executed a search warrant on the apartment in question, according to a news release. It adds that found five people there, about 17 grams of suspected crack-cocaine, 14 grams of suspected fentanyl, a handgun and more than $3,000 in cash.

Four of those individuals were later released with no charges, the noted, but You is facing charges of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, possession of a weapon obtained by crime,possession of property obtained by crime less than $5,000, failure to comply with release order conditions and failure to attend court.
