Inuvik are asking residents in town for some help as they try to piece together what happened in a suspected case of arson.

Police received a call on Jan. 19 about a fire on Alder Drive just after 4 a.m. that morning. When officers arrived on scene, the fire had already been put out, but evidence at the scene apparently showed that the fire was set on purpose. The residence suffered minor damage, according to the report, and there were no injuries as a result.

That fire followed a complaint back on Jan. 10 where police were told about three suspicious individuals in the area of Wolverine Road with a gas can in tow. Officers who responded weren't able to find the trio in question.

Police are asking anyone who may have camera or doorbell footage of either incident to come forward. Specifically, they're looking for anything suspicious in nature on Alder Drive and Wolverine Road between the hours of 3:30 a.m. and 4:30 a.m. on both Jan. 10 and Jan. 19.

If you think you can help, you're asked to contact Inuvik at 867-777-1111 or submit a tip online to Crime Stoppers at p3tips.com. If it's an emergency, call 911.
