Iqaluit man charged with second-degree murder

Peter Toonoo has been charged with second-degree murder, according to Iqaluit .

Jimmy SA国际影视传媒淪amSA国际影视传媒 Kownirk was identified as the victim.

Iqaluit received a complaint on June 25 that a man had been found with severe injuries and was being sent via medevac to Ottawa, where he later died.

On Aug. 21, the Nunavut Major Crimes unit arrested Toonoo, 38. He was charged with second-degree murder.

He is being held in custody. His next court appearance is scheduled for Nov. 6.

The police stated on Oct. 31 that there will be no further information made public as a criminal charge has been laid and the matter is now before the courts.
