Iqaluit looking for break and enter suspects after country food stolen

Pitsi, muskox, fish and seal meat taken and sold

Police in Iqaluit are on the hunt for culprits who stole close to $3,100 worth of country food from the Hunters and Trappers Association in the capital city on Dec. 27.

Among the items taken during the break and enter were pitsi (dried fish), muskox, fish and seal meat.

"Through the course of the investigation, police were notified that the suspects attempted to sell the stolen food outside of Arctic Ventures on Dec. 27, 2024," the stated in a Jan. 21 news release. "They were described as using a childSA¹ú¼ÊÓ°ÊÓ´«Ã½™s sled and had the food covered under a blanket."

The police recently obtained security camera footage that shows three individuals breaking into the Hunters and Trappers Association's storage unit. A couple of still photos from that video were released in hopes that Iqalummiut may recognize the suspects.
