Levi Barnabas earns another term as QIA vice-president

Secretary treasurer and six community directors also earn four-year terms

Levi Barnabas was elected as vice-president of the Qikiqtani Inuit Association with a convincing 64.2 per cent of votes.

Levi Barnabas was re-elected as vice-president of the Qikiqtani Inuit Association on Dec. 9, garnering 64.2 per cent of the votes cast.

Adamee Itorcheak was the electorate's choice for secretary treasurer as he was named on 63.9 per cent of ballots.

The following candidates were successful in their campaigns to become QIA community directors: Kataisee Attagutsiak, Arctic Bay; Larry Audlaluk, Grise Fiord; Billy Etooangat, Pangnirtung; Rosemary Metuq, Qikiqtarjuaq; Sarah Salluviniq, Resolute Bay; and Martha Jaw, by acclamation, in Kinngait.

All terms will be for four years.

Voter turnout was 63 per cent among Qikiqtani beneficiaries.
