Santa Claus comes to Iqaluit

Despite the weather being frightfully cold, Iqalummiut bundled up and came out for the Santa Claus parade on Dec. 14.

"We had to wrap puppies in blankets and hot water bottles," said Samantha Izhatt-Oldham, executive director at Nunavut Animal Rescue, who joined in the procession in a decorated truck and dogs outfitted with Santa gear.

All in all, says Oldham, "It was a good day for a parade, lots of people came out to see Santa and the pups were very happy to get to see so many people."

The procession of floats departed from the AWG arena at noon, turning left at the Four Corners, and ended at the Inuksuk High School parking lot.
