Search and rescue for Kinngait man called off

Kinngait have suspended their search for Niviaqsi Alariaq.

Alariaq was last seen on Sept. 9 hunting outside of the community. He was subsequently reported missing on Sept. 10.

After an extensive search by multiple agencies who failed to locate Alariaq, the suspended the search officially on Sept. 28.

The investigation will remain open as a missing person case.

Our thoughts are with the family and Kinngait community who have pledged significant resources into the search for Niviaqsi," stated Const. Terri-Lynn Smith, the acting detachment commander in Kinngait.
