The execution of a search warrant by Yellowknife on Friday has turned up drug paraphernalia, thousands of dollars and cash and a gun. It's also landed a 61-year-old man in jail.

According to a release Sunday morning, police went into an apartment building in Yellowknife as part of an investigation led by the General Investigation Section. Once inside, officers found what's known as drug precursors - substances used in the production of drugs - along with various drug paraphernalia, a gun with ammunition and around $8,300 in cash.

The SA国际影视传媒檚 Critical Incident program managed the operation with help from the Emergency Response Team, Crisis Negotiation Team, Police Dog Services and Remote Piloted Aircraft System Unit. No injuries were reported.

As a result, David Simpson is facing charges of trafficking a controlled substance, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 and possession of a weapon contrary to order. He was remanded in custody until his next court date after appearing in front of a Justice of the Peace.

Police say the investigation is ongoing.
