Sudden death in Iqaluit under investigation

20-year-old woman dies shortly after arriving at hospital

A 20-year-old woman was declared dead on Boxing Day shortly after arriving at Qiqiktani General Hospital in Iqaluit.

Iqaluit received a report of an unresponsive woman on Dec. 26.

A 20-year-old female was subsequently transported to Qikiqtani General Hospital, where she was declared dead shortly after arrival.

The Iqaluit SA¹ú¼ÊÓ°ÊÓ´«Ã½™s General Investigative Section (GIS) began an immediate investigation into this sudden death with the assistance of the Nunavut Major Crimes Unit (MCU) and the Nunavut Coroners Office.

As this is an ongoing investigation, the stated in a Jan. 3 news release that it will offer no further comment.
