Two Alberta men charged after drug bust on winter road near Norman Wells

Cocaine, crystal meth and a pistol found in 'luxury vehicle' during search of vehicle

Norman Wells have charged a pair of men from Alberta after a traffic stop earlier this week netted a sizable quantity of drugs and a concealed gun.

According to a Thursday release, police received several tips about two men acting suspiciously in what was described as a 'luxury vehicle' on the winter road between Norman Wells and Fort Good Hope on March 10. Officers managed to find the vehicle in question and discovered the two suspects, both of whom were on court-ordered conditions to remain in Alberta.

Both occupants were subsequently arrested, after which it was discovered one of them was in possession of a quantity of suspected cocaine.

A search of the vehicle uncovered large quantities of suspected methamphetamine (crystal meth), crack cocaine, cocaine as well as fentanyl and other drug paraphernalia. A search warrant was later obtained and executed on the vehicle, which turned up a concealed pistol.

In all, 247 grams of methamphetamine, 194 grams of cocaine and 13 grams of fentanyl were seized.

As a result, Kyle Haman, 23, and Devon Comfort, 30, both of Alberta, have each been charged with two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking (methamphetamine), possession for the purpose of trafficking (fentanyl), two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking (cocaine), two counts of possession of a firearm while knowing possession is unauthorized and possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.

Comfort was also charged with possession of property obtained by crime less than $5,000, while Haman was slapped with nine extra counts of failure to comply with release order conditions, three counts of failure to comply with undertaking conditions and four counts of failure to comply with probation order conditions.

Both men appeared in front of a Justice of the Peace and were remanded in custody.

Chris Romanchych, officer-in-charge of G Division Criminal Operations. "These drugs and guns may have gone on to inflict significant harm were it not for community members willing to share this vital information. I would like to sincerely thank those people who have taken ownership of the safety of their community.SA国际影视传媒
