Unionized city employees ratify new collective agreement

New deal will see 11.25 per cent wage hike over four years retroactive to Jan. 1, 2024

The new agreement provides a 2.25 per cent wage increase retroactive to Jan. 1, 2024 and annual three per cent each year for the remaining three years, according to a news release from the city on Monday.

Unionized CIty of Yellowknife employees with the Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC) Local X0345 have ratified the four-year deal reached last week. It took effect on Monday and will run until Dec. 31, 2027, according to a news release from the city on Monday.

The new four-year deal provides a 2.25 per cent wage increase retroactive to Jan. 1, 2024 and annual three per cent for the remaining three years of the agreement.

"The collective agreement also includes additions to both leave and allowance provisions with respect to rest periods, casual leave, Indigenous cultural leave, parental leave, birth and adoption leave and personal safety footwear," stated the release.

Union negotiators had urged the membership to vote in favour of ratification.
