The owner of Yellowknife's Guy Architects has been honoured with a rather exclusive award.
Wayne Guy received the King Charles III Coronation Medal in St. Andrews, N.B., on Oct. 7 through the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada. Guy was one of 30 such recipients to have the honour bestowed on them during the ceremony, which was presided over by Brenda Murphy, the province's Lieutenant-Governor.

In announcing the awards, the RAIC stated that the recipients "have made significant contributions to their country, province, territory region, community or abroad, which brings credit to Canada."
Guy was the only Northerner to be named to the list and was nominated by Wayne DeAngelis, who sits on the RAIC board of directors. He's been a member of several boards over the years, including the Northwest Territories Association of Architects, founding member and president of Homes for the Homeless and past president of both the Yellowknife Rotary Club and the United Way.
The medal itself was created to mark the coronation of the new leader of the British royal family on May 6, 2023. The King Charles III Coronation Medal. It's described as a "visible and tangible way to recognize 30,000 outstanding individuals of all ages and from all walks of life who have made a difference in their communities."
