Adam Murray has been appointed as the next superintendent of Yellowknife Catholic Schools (YCS). He starts on Jan. 2, 2025.

"Murray has been in education for over 20 years. After a successful teaching career with Edmonton Public Schools, he transitioned to a principal position and, later, senior administrator in Alberta," a news release from YCS reads. "He was appointed as chief superintendent of Peace River School Division in 2021."

The release also quotes Tina Schauerte, chair of the Yellowknife Catholic School District Board of Trustees, who said Murray was selected because of his experience as a chief superintendent in Alberta.

"The [YCS] board is confident that Adam will provide the knowledge, skills and expertise to advance the district strategic priorities so that Yellowknife Catholic Schools will continue to grow and thrive,SA国际影视传媒� Schauerte stated.

Murray is quoted as saying his focus is on creating an environment that's rooted in the teachings of Jesus Christ.

Former YCS superintendent Simone Gessler announced her resignation in May due to her plans to move to Saskatoon to become the superintendent of education-learning services with Greater Saskatoon Catholic Schools.

YCS provides schooling for close to 1,500 students in three schools and one technical centre. The board also employs about 230 administrators, teachers and support staff and has an annual budget of more that $28 million, according to its news release.
