Fatality on the Dempster Highway south of Fort McPherson

A 22-year-old man died in a two-vehicle collision on the Dempster Highway just before 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 11.

The accident occurred 30 km south of James Creek Camp, or at kilometre 442 of Dempster Highway.

According to Cst. Robert Frizzell of the North District Media Liaison, the accident occurred approximately 30 km south of James Creek Camp near the Yukon-Northwest Territories border.

The individual driving the other vehicle was not injured.

The Yukon CoronerSA¹ú¼ÊÓ°ÊÓ´«Ã½™s Service is investigating the accident with assistance from the Northwest Territories CoronerSA¹ú¼ÊÓ°ÊÓ´«Ã½™s Service, Fort McPherson , Dawson City and Yukon Traffic Services.

The Yukon dispatched a collision reconstruction specialist to the scene. The Dempster Highway was closed for the investigation from Sunday afternoon into Monday morning.
