Homicide charges have been laid following an investigation into a death in Inuvik over the summer.
Inuvik initially responded to a report of an injured, non-responsive man at a residence on Union Street at approximately 11:39 p.m. June 5. A coroner service was called in to do a sudden death investigation and the NT Major Crimes Unit (MCU) was called in to determine if the cause of death was criminal.
Working with the Inuvik , NT Forensic Identification Services and Police Dog services, police were able to hone in on a suspect.
Police arrested the suspect on Oct. 14. No other suspects are currently wanted in the case.
38-year-old Michael Drescher, of Inuvik, has been charged with murder. He is scheduled to appear in Yellowknife court on Nov. 4.
The charge against him have not been proven in court.
