communities doing so much with their JCRs, it just makes everyone wish we had one. Now that
weSA国际影视传媒檝e got it, weSA国际影视传媒檙e so 别虫肠颈迟别诲.SA国际影视传媒
Raddi said there are many activities the JCRs will be able to partake in.
SA国际影视传媒淲eSA国际影视传媒檒l be doing a lot of different things. ThereSA国际影视传媒檚 Ranger skills, life skills, traditional skills,SA国际影视传媒
Raddi said. SA国际影视传媒淭hereSA国际影视传媒檚 over 150 things that we can do so weSA国际影视传媒檒l be doing a lot of training, on-the-
land skills, target shooting, cooking, and sewing.SA国际影视传媒
Craig Routery, warrant officer, said the JCR is a community-driven program supported by the
military.
SA国际影视传媒淭he military doesnSA国际影视传媒檛 actually own the program, the community owns it,SA国际影视传媒 Routery said. SA国际影视传媒淲hen it
comes to planning and organizing, the community decides whatSA国际影视传媒檚 important for their youth to
know. ThatSA国际影视传媒檚 the strength of this program.SA国际影视传媒
Routery added that the militarySA国际影视传媒檚 role is to provide the community with the means to put their
plans into action.
SA国际影视传媒淲e take away all the normal problems, like finances, because it is expensive to do a lot of this
stuff,SA国际影视传媒 Routery said. SA国际影视传媒淲e take that burden off of their shoulders so they can just get out there
with the kids and teach them what they need to know.SA国际影视传媒
Usually, the youth will meet once a week, but Raddi said there will be longer experiential
learning opportunities.
SA国际影视传媒淪ometimes theySA国际影视传媒檒l have week-long events where they meet with JCRs from other communities
in one place, and weSA国际影视传媒檒l all learn from each other,SA国际影视传媒 Raddi said. SA国际影视传媒淪enior JCRs have leaderships, so
theySA国际影视传媒檒l all get together and meet in one place and share and bring stuff back to teach the younger

Raddi said this is an important program for Inuvik youth.
SA国际影视传媒淎 lot of our youth are losing the traditional culture, so it will be good to bring a lot of the
traditional skills back because theySA国际影视传媒檒l need them when theySA国际影视传媒檙e older,SA国际影视传媒 Raddi said. SA国际影视传媒淲eSA国际影视传媒檙e pretty

Derrien Firth is one of the youth who signed up for InuvikSA国际影视传媒檚 JCR program on Saturday, Feb. 3.

He says he signed up because a friend recommended the program to him.
SA国际影视传媒淚 thought it was pretty cool. We might get to go to Whitehorse, meet new people,SA国际影视传媒 Firth said.
It is his first time joining the Rangers and heSA国际影视传媒檚 most excited about learning traditional skills such
as hunting and trapping.
SA国际影视传媒淚tSA国际影视传媒檚 important to learn the skills and keep them going,SA国际影视传媒 Firth said. SA国际影视传媒淪o I can teach my kids and
they can teach their kids.SA国际影视传媒
