In the final few minutes of the A-division championship game, the Malena Selects from Tuktoyaktuk scored, bringing them ahead of Aklavik's K&D Outlaws for just a moment before the goal was called back.
A few intense minutes later, K&D Outlaws scored and took a 6-5 lead to win the A-division IRC Cup.
K&D Outlaws coach Jordan McLeod said the game was a "real nail-biter" and was a really good way to end the tournament.
"The Malena Selects put up a good fight. It was a close game, we came out with a win in the last couple of minutes," McLeod said. "We had to come out skating with the other team. They were hungry, they wanted to win, so we had to come out just as fast as them in the end."
Donny Hendrick organized the IRC Cup.
"My father started it back 30 years ago," Hendrick said. "He wanted us to have a local tournament for the Beaufort Delta and we've been carrying it on ever since."
He said the tournament went well overall.
"It was pretty good. We had 17 teams in three divisions," Hendrick said. "And we saw some good hockey."
He added that the IRC Cup is the main tournament in the region.
"It's the only tournament in this region. Everybody looks forward to coming to this tournament," Hendrick said.
