looking for public assistance to solve December mischief mystery

Inuvik are asking anyone who has information about a suspicious water leak that happened last December.

Police came across a flooded section of Mackenzie Road Dec. 21. The water was flowing from a cracked water main line at a nearby building.

When police inquired to the building's owner, they found that someone had shut down the gas line sometime between Dec. 19 and 20, causing the water pipes to freeze and crack.

Extensive damage was incurred on the apartment building connecting Mackenzie and Kingmingya Roads. Police began investigating and examined the surveillance footage of the building but to date have not found the culprit.

Inuvik is asking for anyone who would have witnessed suspicious activity in the area of Mackenzie Road and Kingmingya Road, between December 19 and 20, to please contact Inuvik at 777-1111.
