Five people arrested in Inuvik cocaine bust

Five people are facing trafficking charges after an investigation of two apartments in Inuvik led to a seizure of more than $76,000 in drug money.

Inuvik say they began an investigation on July 18 into two apartments where drug trafficking was suspected to be based. After sufficient evidence was collected, police obtained search warrants for both suites and entered them on July 21.

When the searches commenced, police say they found 70 grams of suspected crack-cocaine and more than $76,000 in cash, as well as 70 grams of "illicit" cannabis.

Jolene Andre, 38, of Inuvik, is charged with possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking and possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.

Willie Inglangasuk, 43, of Inuvik, is charged with possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking and possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.

Krystian Cogswell, 21, of British Columbia, is charged with possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking and possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.

Yousha Nayyar, 20, of Ontario, is charged with possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking and possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.

A 17-year-old male from Alberta, who cannot be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, is charged with possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking and possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.

All have appeared before a justice of the peace and remain in custody.
