The GNWT has nearly doubled the senior home heating subsidy in Norman Wells.

Anyone age 60 and over will see their subsidy increase from $750 per month to $1,455 per month. The rate may adjust further depending on how home heating costs go over the winter. The subsidy will be automatically applied to people already within the program.

SA国际影视传媒淭he Government of the Northwest Territories recognizes that the Sahtu region experiences some of the highest costs of living in the country," said Education, Culture and Employment Minister Caitlin Cleveland. "The impacts from the barge cancellations due to low water is further impacting home heating costs in Norman Wells. This is why we have nearly doubled the Senior Home Heating Subsidy rates for Norman Wells recipients beginning this month. We will continue to monitor home heating costs and are prepared to adjust subsidy rates further based on those prices to ensure seniors are supported.SA国际影视传媒
