GNWT donates $150,000 to Norman Wells Food Bank

The Norman Wells Food Bank is getting $150,000 in cash from the territorial government to help residents cope with rising costs in the community.

The Norman Wells Food Bank is getting a $150,000 cash injection from the GNWT to help residents struggling with skyrocketing costs in the isolated Sahtu community.

An announcement was made Oct. 21.

"This $150,000 donation to the food bank reflects our continued dedication to providing essential relief to families during this challenging time. In partnership with community leaders, Indigenous governments and businesses, we are working toward both immediate relief and long-term solutions to ensure the region can build resilience for the future.SA国际影视传媒

This is the latest measure put in place to assist Norman Wells. It follows a $1.8-million announcement to offset costs of transporting goods into the community, nearly doubling the home heating subsidy to $1,455 per month and covering heating costs for income assistance recipients.
