Inuvik Fire Department hosts splash park
With temperatures soaring above 30 C on July 26, Inuvik firefighters decided to help community members turn down the heat by setting up an impromptu splash park at Ruyant Park. Sprinklers and a slip and slide allowed children to get wet to help cool off amid the heat warning.
Wellness camp starts this week
A berry-picking, beading and wellness camp is set to kick off Aug. 1 and is scheduled to continue until Aug. 7. The initiative is hosted by a number of prominent artists and knowledge guardians. Gwiizrii Gijiint'Aih (Do your best, try your best) will help participants practise self-care while learning traditional arts and crafts. Community beautification contest seeks entries
Gardeners, lawn lovers and creative housekeepers take note SA国际影视传媒� the Town of Inuvik's annual community beautification contest is taking entries until Aug. 16.
Open to businesses, residents and community groups alike, the contest is separated into three categorie: hobbyist, master gardener and large or small commercial properties. Judging will take place Aug. 21. Visit to sign up.
Inuvik artist in running for Pow Wow Pitch
A local artist and craftsperson is in the top 100 for the annual Pow Wow Pitch People's Choice Awards. Nokadlak Inuit Crafts and Art is owned and operated by Danielle Nokadlak, who has been making earrings, bracelets, necklaces, sculptures and other artwork out of traditional materials. If she is voted the people's choice, she will win $1,000 and be eligible to compete in the grand finale. Visit to cast a vote.
