Northwestel service out due to cut line
Northwestel internet customers were dealing with reduced bandwidth since the start of Aug. 20.
"We're aware that some customers in the Mackenzie Valley area, including the communities of Inuvik, Tuktoyaktuk, Aklavik, Fort McPherson and Tsiighetchic, are experiencing issues with their internet speeds. Our technicians have been investigating and we're working hard to resolve the issue. Thank you for your patience," reads the service alert website.
An internal memo sent to GNWT employees obtained by Inuvik Drum stated that the cause of the service outage was a cut line, and wildfires were preventing technicians from accessing the damaged site.
