Arctic Paws bringing vet to town
Inuvik's furry, fuzzy and even scaly residents will want their humans to know Arctic Paws is bringing a veterinarian to town. A clinic will be held from Nov. 24 to 29, with services ranging from general appointments to spay and neutering to surgeries. Winter clothing funding available for Inuvialuit
Inuvialuit beneficiaries are able to access funding for children's winter clothing through the Inuit Child First Initiative. Funding is available for anyone ages 18 or younger. Only the main caregivers of children are eligible to apply. Visit to submit an application.
New fire permitting
The Town of Inuvik recently released a new burning permit application. Completion of the form is required to be allowed to have a fire within municipal boundaries. The fire department has opted to use a QR-code to access the form, but you can also find it at , if you prefer that method.
Gwich'in archives get funding boost
An ongoing joint-project between the Gwich'in Tribal Council and NWT archives has received $75,670 in funding from Library and Archives Canada. The financial assistance is to complete work in SA¹ú¼ÊÓ°ÊÓ´«Ã½œarrangement, description and digitization of special media in the Gwich'in Social and Cultural Institute (GSCI)-GTC fonds."
The GSCI-GTC fonds is a one-of-a-kind collection of language, traditional knowledge and cultural heritage. It consists of roughly 76 metres of text, 400 maps, 100 video recordings, 850 audio recordings, nearly 10,000 photographs and four terabytes SA¹ú¼ÊÓ°ÊÓ´«Ã½” or 4,000 gigabytes SA¹ú¼ÊÓ°ÊÓ´«Ã½” of digital records.
