Holiday craft fair is booking tables

Inuvik's premier holiday craft fair is set for Nov. 9 and is currently booking tables for vendors.

Seized drugs contained animal dewormer

Inuvik say that cocaine seized in a June 13 drug bust was cut with a veterinary drug used for removing worms known as Levamisole. Human use of that drug was banned in 1999 by the United States Food and Drugs Administration after several cases where individuals saw a significant drop in white blood cells, known medically as agranulocytosis. The effects of it when taken with cocaine are unclear.

Results of the lab tests on the drugs were published in the 's monthly report to Inuvik Town Council.

Nominations now accepted for mayor, council and DEAs

Nominations opened on Sept. 9 for those interested in running for Inuvik Town Council, mayor or the district education authority.

Nomination papers must be submitted by Sept. 23 at 3 p.m and can be picked up from the town office or downloaded from the town's website. Incumbent Mayor Clarence Wood told Inuvik Drum that councillors should expect to put in 10 to 30 hours per week in preparation for meetings. Newcomers to Inuvik who have lived here at least a year and want to cast a ballot have until Sept. 23 to update the town with their current status and can do so on the municipality's website.
