Two Inuvik women are facing murder charges after the body of a man was discovered behind a building on Aug. 25.

reported the charges shortly after 4 p.m. on Aug. 27.

Police say they found the remains of a 39-year-old man behind a building and concluded the individual was the victim of a homicide.

Following an investigation, arrested and charged two women.

Annabelle Edwards, 24, and Felicia Elanik, 20, both of Inuvik, are each a facing a charge of second-degree murder and performing an indignity to human remains.

Both of the accused remain in custody and are scheduled to appear in territorial court on Sept. 3.

A publication ban has been placed on any details related to the incident, according to the , and the police investigation is still underway in partnership with the Office of the Chief Coroner.
