Criminal charge laid following stabbing in Fort Good Hope

Victim and accused know each other; no risk to the public, police say

A 27-year-old woman has been charged with aggravated assault after a person was stabbed several times in Fort Good Hope on Feb. 28.

A 27-year-old woman has been charged after a person was stabbed in Fort Good Hope on Friday, Feb. 28.

The responded to a call about an individual being stabbed several times, which resulted in serious injuries and the victim being flown out for emergency medical treatment.
 
The suspect was quickly identified and arrested without incident, according to police. She faces a charge of aggravated assault.   

The accused, who was not identified in a news release issued on March 3, was later released from custody under legal conditions. She is scheduled to appear in court on June 2.

"The victim and suspect are known to each other and police do not believe there is a risk to the general public," the Mounties stated.

As part of the investigation, a search warrant was obtained and executed on a residence in the community believed to be the location of the offence, the noted.
