Flooding causes Yellowknife Primary Care Centre to close

The Yellowknife Primary Care Centre has been shut due to what it says was flooding that occurred on Friday.

The Northwest Territories Health and Social Services Authority (NTHSSA) said in aa Saturday release that the flooding damaged the building and the areas where primary care clinics are held, making them unfit for use until further notice. The authority is still investigating the cause of the flooding.

The NTHSSA stated that it is contacting and rescheduling appointments of patients who had booked for Jan. 6, 8 and 9. The authority also stated some of the appointments may be moved to the Frame Lake Community Health Clinic on Old Airport Road.

The authority has promised that residents who need same-day appointments or other primary care services can access them.
