Following several reports of break and enters in the industrial area of Hay River, the are advising residents to exercise vigilance.
"Residents are encouraged to conduct routine checks of their properties and ensure outbuildings, trailers and vehicles are secure. Make sure properties are well lit and consider installing security cameras," Const. Josh Seaward stated in a Jan. 3 news release.
"If you believe someone has broken into your property, contact police immediately and do not enter, as the suspect may still be present. There is also a risk that evidence may be inadvertently destroyed if you enter the crime scene," Seaward added.
