Top of the World Loppet this weekend

Ski trails have been iffy this year due to the excessive snow over the winter and the clubhouse has contended with furnace issues, but thatSA¹ú¼ÊÓ°ÊÓ´«Ã½™s not stopping the Inuvik Ski Club from hosting its annual Top of the World Loppet this Sunday.

Racers will cast off at noon from the ski clubSA¹ú¼ÊÓ°ÊÓ´«Ã½™s chalet. Registration and equipment use is free thanks to funding from Cross Country NWT. Heats will be in 15 minute intervals. Participants are asked to arrive at 11:30 a.m. to book gear.

GwichSA¹ú¼ÊÓ°ÊÓ´«Ã½™in author launching book this weekend

Residents are invited to the launch of GwichSA¹ú¼ÊÓ°ÊÓ´«Ã½™in author Mary Joanne ClarkSA¹ú¼ÊÓ°ÊÓ´«Ã½™s book SA¹ú¼ÊÓ°ÊÓ´«Ã½˜MamaSA¹ú¼ÊÓ°ÊÓ´«Ã½™s Love Lives OnSA¹ú¼ÊÓ°ÊÓ´«Ã½™ this Sunday at the Nihtat Community Room. Coffee, tea and snacks will be available as of 2 p.m., April 21. There will be readings from the book, a question-and-answer period and an opportunity to meet the author. Signed books will be available for purchase.

Clowning survey ends tomorrow

YellowknifeSA¹ú¼ÊÓ°ÊÓ´«Ã½™s Northern Arts and Cultural Centre is seeking input on an adult clowning program it may potentially launch. As opposed to the classic circus or childSA¹ú¼ÊÓ°ÊÓ´«Ã½™s party clown, clowning is also an art form allowing for personal healing and growth through humour. Workshops would be taught by Sabine Choucair and would lead to potential performances across the country. The survey takes two minutes to fill and can be found at https://forms.office.com/r/Cq0eZ5459N SA¹ú¼ÊÓ°ÊÓ´«Ã½” it closes April 19.

Tourism photo contest ends Saturday

An Inuvik Tourism Week photo contest is underway, with the opportunity to win a free family photo shoot for the winner. Professional and amateur photographers are invited to submit their best work showcasing the natural wonders of Inuvik. Winners will be selected by a draw. All entries must be uploaded to social media using #InuvikTourism or emailing Tourism@Inuvik.ca by 5 p.m. April 20.
