Public hearing on name change

A public hearing on a proposed name change to Ruyant Crescent is scheduled for May 14 at Inuvik Town Council chambers. The proposed new name for the road is Jak Zheii Place, which translates to SA国际影视传媒榖lueberry placeSA国际影视传媒 in GwichSA国际影视传媒檌n.

SA国际影视传媒淭his change is being presented on behalf of the Naming Committee who have chosen it to honour the Town of InuvikSA国际影视传媒檚 commitment to Truth and Reconciliation, while also acknowledging a cherished location for berry picking among locals and elders in years past,SA国际影视传媒 said the town on its social media feed.

Support or opposition to the change may be voiced in person at the hearing or submitted in writing until 7 p.m. May 14. Written submissions can be emailed to Jenna.MacNeil@inuvik.ca, mailed to PO box 1160, Inuvik, NT, or dropped off to the town office.

Science Rendezvous coming to town

Grab your beakers and hotplates SA国际影视传媒 the annual Science Rendezvous is coming to East Three School May 11.

From 11 a.m.to 3 p.m. the free event will entice minds with hands-on science activities include drones, robots, rockets and the ARISA国际影视传媒檚 new geography sandbox. There will be contests and prizes while the East Three travel club will be selling food as a fundraiser for future student enrichment.

No more scavenging at the dump as of May 13

Town officials are cautioning the Inuvik solid waste site will close to scavenging on May 13 out of concern for bears coming out of hibernation.

SA国际影视传媒淚f you will be scavenging prior to the closing date please use the appropriate precautions, always be alert, avoid bear feeding areas such as residential garbage and respect all instructions given by solid waste site staff. Greenhouse wants to host your event

Inuvik Community Greenhouse is putting the call out to local organizations as a venue to host fundraisers, workshops and other events in the multi-purpose garden.
