Aurora CollegeSA国际影视传媒檚 STEM outreach program has funding for another four years thanks to the Suncor Energy Foundation.
An announcement the foundation had donated $602,500 to the college to support the ongoing operation of the Aurora Research InstituteSA国际影视传媒檚 Science, Technology, Engineering and Math programming (ARI STEM) was published May 3. The programming includes both education in traditional scienes such as chemistry and physics but also digital literacy training including workshops in programming, robotics and other cutting edge technologies.

Programming will continue to focus on youth in smaller communities to provide them with the same educational and future employment opportunities as kids in larger urban centres have access to. The ARI STEM program received the NWT PremierSA国际影视传媒檚 Award for its past work expanding access to STEM education across the territory. Over 450 events were held in 2022-2023 by the ARI STEM teach, reaching over 8,500 students. The program also funds three major science fairs in the territory. The ARI STEM program has served 21 communities across the NWT since 2016.
The program doesnSA国际影视传媒檛 just provide direct education either, the SA国际影视传媒淭rain the Teacher, Loan the GearSA国际影视传媒 program allows teachers to borrow STEM kits to integrate into their classroom curriculum. The kits themselves are specially designed to provide Northern relevant education and use Northern themes as teaching aids.
