Two men charged by following Feb. 22 standoff in Yellowknife

Two men are facing multiple charges after the standoff last week which shut down much of 48 Street in Yellowknife.

were called to an apartment building on Feb. 22 following a number of complaints about a person armed with a knife who was threatening people. The Emergency Response Team, Police Dog Services and other employees were called in to assist officers with the situation.

Following the end of the standoff, which ended peacefully and without incident, four people were taken into custody later in the evening. Two of those individuals, 37-year-old Dean McNeely and 25-year-old Donovan McNeely, were wanted by police in connection with a prior incident and have since been charged with several offences.

Donovan McNeely is facing two counts of assault with a weapon, uttering threats, possession of property obtained by crime, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, failure to remain at the scene of a collision and flight from a police officer. Dean McNeely has been charged with assault and possession of property obtained by crime.

The matter is still under investigation and it wasnSA国际影视传媒檛 immediately known when the pair will appear in court to answer to the charges.
