A fire near Camsell Bend, 80 km south of the Deh Cho community of Wrigley, has grown significantly and forced the N'dulee ferry crossing to close due to heavy smoke and low visibility.

The fire crossed the highway between Kilometre 575 and Kiloemetre 600.

"Once smoke clears slightly, crews will be able to get an assessment of the area and any values at risk including cabins, road, and fibre lines," NWT Fire stated in its Monday afternoon update.

Wrigley is also facing a fire 20 km to the south of the community, on the west side of the Mackenzie River.

"A structure protection unit trailer has proactively been sent to Wrigley and a crew is setting up sprinklers/structure protection on critical infrastructure and houses/cabins along the river," according to NWT Fire. "There will continue to be heavy smoke on Highway 1 and in the community."
