A 39-year-old Yellowknife woman has been charged with possessing child pornography and two counts of transmitting child pornography, according to the .

Angel Anderson appeared before a justice of the peace and was subsequently released with several conditions, including, not obtaining or continuing any employment, or be a volunteer in a capacity that involves being in a position of trust or authority towards persons under the age of 16 years; no contact, directly or indirectly, with any person under the age of 16, unless the child is in the company of an adult who has been approved for such purpose in writing by a bail supervisor; not attend a public park or public swimming area where persons under the age of 16 years are present or can reasonably be expected to be present, or a daycare centre, school ground, playground, public library or community centre

The charges were laid on Oct. 17 following an Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) Unit investigation that started in October 2023. The police were provided with information indicating that offences were being committed at an address in Yellowknife.

In February of 2024, a suspect was arrested and a search warrant was executed on a residence in Yellowknife. Several electronic devices were seized and sent for forensic examination. The suspect was released at that time, pending the results of the examination.

Anderson is schedueld to appear in territorial court on Dec. 10 in Yellowknife.
