Hunters in pursuit of beluga boated to Southampton Island in early August and most got what they were looking for, according to Mayor Timoon Toonoo.
"They had quite a bit of success," Toonoo said. "They brought back quite a bit of maktaaq and people in the community were happy, I think."
Toonoo and his brother were among those successful hunters. A community member made a public post on Facebook last week thanking the Toonoos for sharing their catch.
"We appreciated your kindness very much," she wrote.
