Clyde River man shot and killed in incident with

A 31-year-old man was shot to death by an officer in Clyde River on Tuesday night.

The police stated that the incident occurred after the officer responded to a disturbance call at a residence a little after 11 p.m.

The officer became engaged in a "use of force situation" and then fired their gun, according to an news release issued today at noon.

The wounded man was immediately transported to the health centre and was pronounced dead.

Ottawa Police Service will conduct an independent investigation into the actions of the .

There was another incident in Cape Dorset on Feb. 26 where a man was killed in an incident with police. Ottawa Police Service was called upon to investigate that situation as well. No conclusive information from that earlier ordeal has yet been released to the public.
