Travel website Expedia selected Cambridge Bay SA¹ú¼ÊÓ°ÊÓ´«Ã½“ described as "tiny but mighty" SA¹ú¼ÊÓ°ÊÓ´«Ã½“ as one of Canada's best places to experience winter in an article published on the company's website earlier this month.
The overall sense of community, the annual Christmas Bazaar, holiday games, the Arctic Coast Visitors Centre, Kitikmeot Foods and an abundance of snow were some of the highlights cited.
"Very interesting and oh so true," Marla Limousin, Cambridge Bay's senior administrative officer, said of the summary by expedia.ca. "Community is what it's all about."
However, she noted that the author could have also included the beautiful Christmas decorations along Omingmak Street as well as views of the aurora borealis.
One disclaimer would also be useful to southerners planning a winter trip to the Kitikmeot.
"Temperatures can plummet to -60," Limousin stated. "Not for the faint of heart."
